Illinois State Police responded to a crash on I-55 around mile post 87.5 on Sunday at 2:47 afternoon. According to the preliminary traffic crash investigation, a gray Mazda was traveling northbound on I-55 when the vehicle drove off the left side of the roadway and hit the median barrier wires. The lone passenger of the vehicle was transported to a local hospital for treatment, and the driver refused medical treatment, and was later arrested for driving under the influence of alcohol.
