State Comptroller Susana Mendoza Hoping her Truth in Hiring Act Bill Becomes Law

Illinois State Comptroller Susana Mendoza is trying to get Governor Rauner to pass a bill changing the Governor’s pay roll, and budget. In years past, Illinois Governors have placed some of their employees on other agency’s payrolls in order to shrink the Governor’s budget. Mendoza is hoping that her Truth in Hiring Act bill will put a stop to that.

According to Mendoza, 58 of Rauner’s 102 employees are said to be employed by other agencies. This means that other state agencies are paying Rauner’s employees rather than the Governor.

The Truth in Hiring Act was passed by the House 110-0 on April 19th, and passed by the Senate 46-7 on May 3rd. Now it is in Governor Rauner’s hands where he can sign it, take no action, or he can veto it.
