Father of Unresponsive Infant to be Charged with Aggravated Battery

The Taylorville Police, and Fire departments responded to a call reporting an unresponsive infant on the 100 block of East Main Cross on Friday morning around 10:30. When officers arrived to the scene, the Taylorville Fire Department had moved the infant to Taylorville Memorial Hospital, and was later moved to HSHS St. Johns in Springfield. Currently, the infant is still at HSHS St. Johns, and during the investigation a two-year-old child has also been taken into protective custody.

 

The father of the infant is 30 year old Chad Johnson, and he has been taken into custody for Violation of an Order of Protection, and a warrant for larceny. Johnson will be charged later today for aggravated battery to a child.

 

This is an ongoing investigation by the Taylorville Police Department, Illinois State Police, Illinois Department of Children and Family Services, and the Christian County State’s Attorney’s Office. Authorities are asking that anyone who may have information to contact the Taylorville Police Department or call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-568-TIPS.
