School Board Still on a ?Wait and See? Regarding the Budget

The Taylorville School Board held their monthly meeting on Tuesday night. Superintendent Dr. Greg Fuerstenau started the meeting off discussing the proposed changes that were going to be made to help trim the budget. He said they are still in a wait and a see mode and there are no answers on where they’ll be going due to the waiting game on the state budget. Fuerstenau urged all members to think positive but they still must be cautious.

Dr. Fuerstenau did congratulate the 2014 Yearbook Contest winners. Taylorville High School, led by advisor Steve Steele, captured two firsts, two seconds, one third and one honorable mention in the eight categories. The first place honors came in “Best copy” and “Best Sports Coverage”. Second place honors came in “Best Divider Pages” and “Best Use of Photography”, while the third place honor came in “Best Layout and Design”. The honorable mention came in “Best Theme Development”.

In other business, the board approved the Taylorville High School Spanish overnight trip to Chicago. They also approved an 8-period schedule at the Taylorville High School and Junior High School. The board then approved the calendar for the 2015-2016 school year that will start on Wednesday, August 19th.

The board accepted the resignations of Barbara Chase, Business Education at THS, Chris Norris, Junior High, Kimberly Pembroke and Melody Wagner, Poms Coaches at the Junior High.
