The Moscow Connection

Taylorville’s claim to Abraham Lincoln fame has long been the story of a young, still law practicing Lincoln asking a judge to issue a “writ of quietus” in order to quiet some disruptive swine under the old courthouse, showing a glimpse of the Great Emancipator’s light-hearted comedic side.

Carol Alexander, Co-President of the Taylorville Tourism Council, tells Regional Radio that her children’s book The Big Squeal was recently accepted into the All Russia State Library for Foreign Literature in Moscow, Russia. Alexander’s book centers on the escapades of an orphan pig that encounters Lincoln’s likeness throughout Taylorville.  Alexander’s also tells us there are plans to translate her work into Russian, and that it’s slated to be distributed throughout the country.
