7 members of the newly-formed Christian County C-E-O Board, attended all-day training on Thursday at the Keller Convention Center in Effingham. The effort is part of the start of the program in Christian County, to teach entrepreneurial skills to around 2 dozen Christian County high school seniors in the 2015-2016 school year.
Those attending from Christian County included, from the left: Brenda Spurling of Spurling Title, Incorporated of Taylorville; Regional School Superintendent Marchelle Kassebaum; Mary Renner who is executive director of the Christian County Economic Development Corporation and co-chair of the local C-E-O program; Patty Hornbuckle, C-E-O of the Greater Taylorville Chamber of Commerce; Dee Krueger, Assistant Director at the Taylorville Campus of Lincoln Land Community College and co-chair of the local C-E-O program; Taylorville Mayor Greg Brotherton; and not pictured was Miller Media Group president Randal J. Miller.
The 7 were among nearly 80 board members from over 20 new C-E-O start-up programs in Illinois and Indiana. After a welcome from C-E-O founder and Taylorville native Craig Lindvahl, several presenters outlined the timeline for recruiting students to attend the daily 90-minute session next school year, as well as how to recruit and hire a facilitator that will lead the students.
Applications for both students for next school year, and for the new facilitator to be hired, are on-line at christiancountyceo-dot-com. The application deadline for both students and the facilitator position, is March 2nd.
