Area Arrests/Accidents 1/19/15

THE TAYLORVILLE POLICE DEPARTMENT REPORTS THE FOLLOWING ARRESTS:

On Thursday (1/19/15), officers witnessed a driver who did not have a valid driver’s license and conducted a traffic stop. Subsequent to the investigation, Michael Reber, 41, of Taylorville, was arrested for no valid driver’s license. He was issued a notice to appear and released at the scene.

On Friday (1/16/15), at 10:53 A.M., Matt Hutchinson, the Assistant Principal at Taylorville High School, called Taylorville Police about an altercation at the high school. Hutchinson told police, Bailey Kennedy, 18, had pushed another student and a teacher. Kennedy was arrested and taken to the Taylorville Police Department where he was processed and released.

Donald W. King, 58, of Taylorville was arrested on Friday for disorderly conduct.

Melisa D. Krouse, 58, of Taylorville was arrested on Friday for a failure to appear warrant out of Christian County.

Tyler J. Purkes, 20, of Taylorville was arrested on Friday for possession of cannabis that was less than 10 grams.

Tilur M. Miller, 21, of Taylorville was arrested on Saturday for possession of a controlled substance, resisting/obstructing a peace officer, and driving with no valid driver’s license.

Casey L. Conaway, 21, of Springfield was arrested on Friday for retail theft.

 

Accidents to report:

On Friday at 8:13A.M., Rhea A. Witlow,17, of Taylorville and Shawn B. Harshani, 42 of Taylorville were driving northbound of Cheney St. attempting to turn right onto Springfield Rd. Harshani entered the turn lane and had to wait for oncoming traffic. Witlow was following behind Harshani. She began to make the turn and realized Harshani was still waiting on traffic. Witlow tried to avoid Harshani but failed to do so. Harshani had damage on his driver’s side door and front fender. Both vehicles were towed due to damage and no injuries were reported. Witlow was cited for failure to reduce speed to avoid a crash and Harshani was cited for operating an uninsured vehicle.
