Christian County Economic Development Board Meets; Honors Outgoing Board Member

The Christian County Economic Development Corporation board of directors held their quarterly meeting on Tuesday at noon in the community room of People's Bank and Trust, to review ongoing economic development efforts.

The board honored outgoing board member Dan Raab, who is retiring December 31st as the long-time C-E-O of Taylorville Memorial Hospital. Raab was given a plaque for his years of service to the Economic Development Corporation board and the community.  CCEDC president Dee Krueger (left) presented Raab with the plaque.


Executive director Mary Renner reported to the board, her most recent efforts towards expanding job creation in Christian County. Renner told the board that signs are indicating Governor Pat Quinn will announce the statewide sites for growing medical cannabis, before he leaves office. She told Regional Radio News following the meeting, that it susprised her that the outgoing governor would make these announcements.

And, Renner told the board that a new potential industry is doing surveying work around the county. She wasn't at liberty to say who it was, but told us their work is ongoing.

The Christian County Economic Development Corporation works full-time to keep and create jobs in the county.
