It's Election Day!

It's general election day today (Tuesday), with several major races.

Incumbent U-S Senator Dick Durbin is being challenged again by Republican Jim Oberweis. Democrat Ann Callis is taking on incumbent Republican first-term Congressman Rodney Davis, and in the Illinois Governor's Race, incumbent Democrat Pat Quinn is facing off against Republican Bruce Rauner.

There are several Illinois State Senate and State Representative races, including incumbent Democratic State Senator Andy Manar going against newcomer Republican Linda Little, and incumbent Democratic State Representative Sue Scherer being challenged by Republican newcover Mike Bell.

Judge seats on the ballot include whether or not to retain Lloyd Karmier for the State Supreme Court seat from the 5th Judicial District, and a race to fill the 4th Judicial Circuit seat pitting Democrat Ericka Sanders of Salem against Republican Martin Siemer of Effingham.

In Christian County, incumbent county clerk Linda Curtin is retiring. Long-time assistant Laurie Mense is running as a Democrat against Republican Becky Edwards.

And in the treasurer's race, incumbent Democrat Dick Adams who filled the unexpired term of Mike Drea, is running against Republican Betty Asmussen.

In Shelby County, contested races include Republican Donald Strohl running against Democrat Tim Cyr in County Board District 7, and there are also several referendums on the ballot in various parts of Shelby County.

In Montgomery County, County Board District 2, Republican Joseph V. Gasparich is running against Democrat Keith E. Hancock. In District 3, 2 are to be elected with 3 running—Republicans Jay L. Martin and Evan Young, as well as Democrat George L. Blankenship. In District 5, Republican William D. Bergen is running against Democrat Sharon Kuchar, and in Montgomery County Board District 6, 3 are running for 2 seats—Democrats Ronald E. Deabenderfer and David Ronen, and Republican Tim Hopper. A proposition in the North Mac School District for board members to be elected at large instead of by district, is also on the Montgomery County ballot.

You're urged to get out to the polls today, as the polls are open til 7 tonight.
