Area Arrests/Accidents 10/17/2014

THE CHRISTIAN COUNTY SHERIFF'S DEPARTMENT REPORTS THE FOLLOWING ARRESTS:

 Happy Hannah, 64, of Edinburg, was arrested on October 16 for production of cannabis more than five plants, less than twenty.

 Angela Kohl, 34, of Mt. Auburn, was arrested on October 16, for driving on a revoked/suspended license.

 Steven Durbin, 23, of Taylorville, was arrested on October 16 on a bond forfeiture warrant for contempt of court. 

 

 

THE TAYLORVILE POLICE DEPARTMENT REPORTS THE FOLLOWING ARRESTS:

 On October 16, officers were on patrol when they saw Steven S. Durbin, 23, enter the residence at 801 East Poplar Street.  Officers approached the home and subsequently arrested Durbin for an outstanding warrant out of Christian County.  Durbin was transported to the Christian County Correctional Center in lieu of bond. 

 

ACCIDENTS:

 On October 16, at 10:37 a.m., officers were dispatched to an accident on Rt. 29 at Rt. 104.  Officers learned thru dispatch that a vehicle pulling an auger had struck a traffic light knocking the light down.  The officer arrived on scene and spoke to the driver, Steven V. Bergschneider, 58, of Jacksonville.  He said he was turning left onto Rt. 29 from Rt. 104 and the auger he was pulling struck the traffic light knocking it to the ground. 

 On October 15, at approximately 4:08 p.m., officers responded to an accident at North Main Street and East Park Street.  Upon arrival, the vehicle's were already pulled off the roadway into a nearby parking lot.  Meikle admitted that she slid on the wet pavement and slid into Shallon E. Spinner, 35, of Taylorville.  Both vehicles were able to drive off without a tow, and there were no injuries reported. 

 On October 16 at approximately 2:15 p.m., officers were dispatched to Family Video for an accident with not personal injuries.  Upon arrival, both vehicles were pulled off the roadway into the parking lot of Family Video.  Michelle N. Coy, 36, of Taylorville, said she was traveling west bound and she thought McCarty came out of the center lane.  Coy's front drivers side was struck, the back passenger side of McCarty.  McCarty said he turned out of Circle K parking lot and was struck while he was traveling west bound on Spresser.  John McCarty was cited for improper lane usage.  Both cars were able to drive off there were no apparent injuries.
