Deer Accidents On The Rise

Area police agencies report four deer-car accidents in just the last few days. 

 On Sunday (10-12), 25 year-old Mitchell W. Daigh of Taylorville was driving north on 1600 East Road just west of Owaneco, when he struck a deer. Daigh's 2005 Chevy 1500 sustained front end damage.

 Also Sunday, 23 year-old Brittany E. Kasper of Taylorville was traveling west on Route 104 between Kincaid and Pawnee when a deer appeared in front of her. Kasper's 2007 Toyota Camry suffered front end damage.

An accident near Taylorville involved a Jacksonville teenager. 19 year-old Shelby Wells was reportedly headed east on 1025 North Road when she hit a deer, causing the front air-bags to deploy. Wells and her passengers, 19 year-old Tyler Wells of Tayloville and 19 year-old Christopher Collins of Rantoul were uninjured. Wells' 2007 Volkswagen Beetle had to be towed from the scene.

 Last Friday,  23 year-old Clayton Nicols of Taylorville was southbound on 1350 East Road just north of 1200 East Road when a deer wandered out. He told cops he couldn't avoid hitting it. Nicols was reportedly not hurt.
