Shelbyville Rotary Meets

At a meeting Monday (09-29), the Shelbyville Rotary Club heard about the upcoming Festival of Lights. The program, provided by Judy McDowell-Humphrey, featured Bill Bly and Bob Thomas, who head up the festival. They told the club there are more than 450 displays that have to be prepared and set up, with more added every year. The Festival of Lights, which attracts thousands of visitors to Shelbyville every year, takes place at Forest Park throughout the holiday season.

The club welcomed two new members: Christina Brown and Paula Grupe, both from the Villas of Hollybrook. Rotarians also agreed to pay nearly $800 towards a Boy Scout canoe trip, and discussed the upcoming Halloween Parade.

Phil Miller reported on the recent Cystic Fibrosis fundraiser. The total is currently $32,000, with more coming in.
