Two Accidents Reported

A local woman was sent to the hospital Saturday after an accident. According to reports, Angelina Smith of Taylorville was headed south on Route 48 when she lost control and slid across the northbound lane, smashing into the ditch. Smith's 2000 Dodge Coupe ended up on its side. She was taken to Taylorville Memorial Hospital for treatment of injuries described in the report as non-life threatening.

Area police agencies continue to warn drivers: with the harvest on, deer are more active than ever. A local man found that out the hard way.

Saturday (09-27), 45 year-old Jared Goodman of Taylorville was reportedly driving south on County Highway 7, in a rural area a few miles east of Taylorville. Goodman told police he was cresting a hill near 1450 North Road when a deer ran out into the road. He said he couldn't avoid hitting it. Goodman was apparently not injured, but his car was damaged on the front end and hood.
