Taylorville Kiwanis Hear About Chamber Chillifest, City/County 175th Anniversary Celebration

width=The Taylorville Kiwanis Club heard about the upcoming Taylorville Chamber Chillifest, which this year is being combined with the City of Taylorville and Christian County's 175th Anniversary celebration, at the club's weekly luncheon meeting Tuesday at the Taylorville Memorial Hospital auditorium.

Kiwanis member Patty Hornbuckle, the C-E-O of the Greater Taylorville Chamber of Commerce, told the club about the 3 days full of festivities October 3rd, 4th, and 5th.

Much of the 175th Anniversary celebration takes place that weekend at the Christian County Historical Society grounds, while the annual Chillifest celebration will again take place on the Taylorville square. Much of the weekend on the square will also include events celebrating the city and county's anniversary, including the parade Saturday morning that Hornbuckle says will be a big one.

Many of the Chillifest mainstay events continue, such as the Little Miss, Little Mister, and Junior Miss pageant Saturday morning; entertainment on the south stage and a new north stage both days; and 2 days of International Chilli Society judging.

The Taylorville Kiwanis Club is part of global organization of volunteers dedicated to changing the world one child and one community at a time. Weekly meetings are held Tuesdays at noon at the Taylorville Memorial Hospital auditorium. For information on the club, go to taylorvillekiwanis.com.
