Taylorville Police to Hold Car Seat Safety Day September 20

width=The National Child Passenger Safety Week begins this Sunday and runs thru Saturday, September 20th.  This year the Illinois Department of Transportation, AAA, the Illinois Secretary of State, and the Illinois Chapter of the American Academy of Pediatrics are sponsoring 78 car seat checks in Illinois, including one in Taylorville.

The focus of the Illinois campaign this year is to talk with and educate parents about extended rear-facing for children.  Children who ride rear-facing are 5 times safer than those riding forward-facing.

The Taylorville Police Department has teamed up with CVS Pharmacy in hosting this year's campaign including the Seat Check Saturday, September 20th from 10am to 2pm in the CVS parking lot.

Taylorville Police have 3 certified technicians which will be on hand to inspect car seats or properly install a car seat.  Some hospitals even require a car seat to be installed by a certified technician.  The technicians will have information available and will be able to answer questions.

In addition to the safety seat check, TRIAD will be on hand handing out information on the Yellow Dot program sponsored by the Illinois Department of Transportation.
