1st Responders have until Friday to cash in on a free McDonald's McCafe Smoothie. According to Brad Davis, whose family owns and operates McDonald's Restaurants in Taylorville, Pana, Shelbyville, and Vandalia,  they are offering the smoothies this week in honor of the September Eleventh National Day of Service and Remembrance. 

Those eligible for the freebie include police, firefighters, EMS and public safety officers. All they have to do is show a current state-issued ID card. 

The Smoothies have been available all week. Davis says it's the second consecutive year for the local McDonald's to honor the first responders.
