Area Arrests/Crashes/Incidents 9-4-14

THE CHRISTIAN COUNTY SHERIFF'S DEPARTMENT REPORTS THE FOLLOWING ARRESTS:

Joshua Smothers, 29, of Frankfort, Illinois was arrested on September 3rd for domestic battery.

Santo Tomas, 33, of Taylorville was arrested on September 3rd for disorderly conduct.

 

ACCIDENTS:

On September 3rd, Richard Kennedy, 64, of Taylorville was traveling north on 1400 East about 1034 North. Cheryl Izatt, 64, of Taylorville was traveling south bound at the same location. Kennedy advised that she saw Izatt coming and started to get off the roadway. Izatt clipped Kennedy and damaged the mirrors on both vehicles.

On September 2, Joseph Lomprez, 54, of Pana was east bound on Market Street. He stopped at the stop sign, then proceeded through the intersection into the path of travel of Gary Jones, 43, of Taylorville. Jones them traveling south bound, collided with Lomprez.

On September 3rd, Randy Perugino, 24, of Kincaid was traveling north bound on County Highway #5 approximately ½ mile south of township road 1975 North. Perugino stated an approaching vehicle come into his lane of traffic and he veered off the roadway to the right to avoid a collision He lost control of his 1995 Chevy Silverado while attempting to come back on the roadway. He rotated counter-clockwise and skidded across the south bound lane of traffic. Perugino struck the west ditch and over turned. His vehicle came to rest on its wheels facing west. Perugina received total damage to his 1995 Chevy Silverado. All occupants of his vehicle were transported by ambulance to Springfield Hopitals.

 

THE TAYLORVILLE POLICE DEPARTMENT REPORTS THE FOLLOWING:

On August 30th, David Lowis, 55, of Waverly, Illinois was traveling west on East Park Street at the traffic signal. Marilyn Casteel, 67, of Taylorville said she had a green light. Casteel was attempting to turn left onto Webster Street from Spresser Street. Casteel turned directly into the path of Lowis, causing a collision.
