U.S. Rep. Rodney Davis of Taylorville will be presenting Richard Conner with the medals his late-father, Charles Conner, received for his service in World War II. In a tragic fire, Richard lost all of the medals his father was awarded and will be receiving replacement medals at a presentation ceremony at 1:45pm on Tuesday, August 26, at the Meridian Ballroom, Morris University Center, on the campus of Southern Illinois University Edwardsville. The medals to be presented include the Air Medal, the American Defense Service Medal, the American Campaign Medal, the World War II Victory Medal and the National Defense Service Medal. Immediately following the medal presentation, Rep. Davis is hosting a Veterans Job and Resource Fair for 13th District veterans, military service members and their families from 2pm – 4pm at the same location. Employers ranging from Growmark, Inc. to Korte & Luitjohan Contractors, Inc. and others will be on site to provide attendees with information about job opportunities with their organization.
