Mariners hit 4 HRs in rout of White Sox

Seattle,  WA (SportsNetwork.com) - Kyle Seager, Robinson Cano, Endy Chavez and
Dustin  Ackley  homered as the Seattle  Mariners routed the Chicago White Sox,
13-3, in the opener of a four-game series.

Ackley  knocked in  four runs and scored  twice for the Mariners, who have won
three in a row. Chavez had three RBI and scored a pair of runs.

"We  had a  good night," said Mariners manager Lloyd McClendon. "I think we're
coming (offensively). We're getting there."

Seattle starter Roenis Elias (9-9) took a no-hitter into the fifth and allowed
two  runs on two  hits with five strikeouts over 5 2/3 innings. Elias had lost
four of his previous five decisions.

straight.  Scott  Carroll (4-7)  gave up  seven runs on  seven hits with three
walks over five-plus innings.

"It  starts  with me on  the mound.  I didn't have  a good performance, and it
transitions  over to  guys  pressing I  guess, trying  to  make things  happen
without good starting pitching," said Carroll.

The Mariners took a 1-0 lead on Ackley's homer in the first.

Chavez  added a two-run  homer in the fourth. Mike Zunino hit a two-out single
and crossed the plate on Chavez's blast to right.

Elias'  no-hit bid came to an end in the fifth when Conor Gillaspie hit a one-
out double to right. Moises Sierra worked a two-out walk before Gordon Beckham
popped out to first.

The  home run parade continued in the bottom half. Ackley walked and scored on
Cano's blast to right.

The White Sox hit a home run of their own in the sixth. Jose Abreu was hit by
a pitch and crossed the plate on Viciedo's shot to right-center field.

But  the Mariners  responded with three runs  in the home half. With the bases
loaded  and  two outs,  Ackley hit a  two-run single to  left off Daniel Webb.
Austin Jackson then scored on a wild pitch to make it 8-2.

Seattle tacked on three more runs in the seventh. Logan Morrison's RBI double,
Chavez's  run-scoring  single and  Ackley's  RBI  groundout  made it  an  11-2
contest.

Alexei  Ramirez hit  an RBI double in the  top of the eighth. But Seager hit a
two-run homer in the bottom half.
