A Pana resident was arrested Sunday on charges of aggravated domestic battery and fleeing/eluding police. On Saturday, Pana Police Department officers responded to a domestic violence report at 502 North Clay Street Apartment 3. An officer arrived and spoke to the victim and discovered the suspect, 29-year-old Joshua Smothers of Pana, had left the scene. While investigating the incident, Smothers reportedly returned to the property and saw the squad at the residence. The officer attempted to stop Smothers but he reportedly fled in a vehicle and refused to stop. Pana officers were unable to locate the suspect. On Sunday, Smothers was located by the Shelby County Sheriff’s Office on a parole violation warrant. Smothers was arrested and charged with unlawful restraint, aggravated domestic battery, and fleeing and eluding police. Smothers was processed and released to the Department of Corrections.
