The Oakland Athletics are going with the "win-now" approach this season. Multiple reports say the Athletics pulled off a blockbuster deal with the Cubs on Friday, bringing pitchers Jeff Samardzija and Jason Hammel to Oakland. In return, Chicago lands Addison Russell, Billy McKinney, Dan Straily and a player to be named later. Russell plays shortstop and is considered a top-15 prospect. He is also the top prospect in the Oakland organization. Billy McKinney is the second overall prospect for the Athletics and plays the outfield. Straily is a right-handed pitcher who went 10-and-8 last season in Oakland. Samardzija and Hammel are a combined 10-and-12 this season in 34 starts. Both pitchers hold ERAs under three.
