Area Arrests/Crashes/Incidents 6-26-14

THE CHRISTIAN COUNTY SHERIFF'S OFFICE REPORTS THE FOLLOWING CRASH:

On June 21 around 2:21am, a Christian County Sheriff's deputy was sent to a two vehicle accident on Illinois Route 16 east of Pana. The deputy arrived on scene and saw Bree A. Thompson, 17, of Pana parked on the north shoulder of Illinois Route 16 and David W. Swanson, 39, of Broadway, NC, parked on the south shoulder. The deputy spoke with Thompson who stated she was eastbound on Route 16 and attempted to make a left turn and was struck by Swanson. Thompson stated she crossed over into the westbound lane and Swanson went around her on her left on the shoulder and through a yard on the north side of Route 16. Thompson stated she stopped her vehicle on the north shoulder of Route 16 just east of the road she intended to turn onto. Swanson stated he was traveling east on Route 16, following Thompson. Swanson stated he observed Thompson stopped in the eastbound lane with no tail/turn lamps. Swanson stated he attempted to go around Thompson lane to avoid rear-ending her vehicle. Swanson stated that Thompson turned left into him. The deputy asked Thompson to activate her turn signals. The deputy observed Thompson's vehicle did not have tail lights or turn signals. The deputy issued Thompson a citation for no signal lamp/signal device. No injuries were reported.

ARRESTS:

James R. Koehne, 46, of 210 Hickory Street, Kincaid, was arrested June 25 for domestic battery.

Wayne J. Sowers, 21, of 215 North Main Street, Bulpitt, was arrested June 25 for theft under $500.

THE TAYLORVILLE POLICE DEPARTMENT REPORTS THE FOLLOWING ARRESTS:

On June 19 at 9:57am, a Taylorville Police Department officer was sent to South Wyandotte Street in regards to a fire. The officer arrived along with the Taylorville Fire Department. No one reportedly answered the door and entry was made by the Taylorville Fire Department. While attempting to check the residence for any people, some illegal fireworks were located inside. The owner of the residence, Scott B. Wingo, 43, of Taylorville, was later contacted and issued a ordinance violation for possession of fireworks.

On June 24 at 8:56pm, a Taylorville Police Department office conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle at Madison and Adams. Following the stop, Anthony D. Benavides, 18, of Pana, was arrested for a Christian County failure to appear warrant.

On June 24 at 5:41pm, Taylorville Police Department officers were sent to 1025 East Franklin in reference to a domestic disturbance. Officers arrived, separated the parties involved, and the female subject left the scene. Officers then cleared the scene. Shortly after, officers were sent back to the residence due to the male subject involved screaming obscenities. Following the investigation, Jericho W. Dickey, 18, of Taylorville was arrested for disorderly conduct.
