Lake Land College Board of Trustees chair, Mike Sullivan, Mattoon, was recently recognized with the Illinois Community College Trustee Association’s (ICCTA) Trustee Education Award. This is the sixth time Sullivan has been honored with the award and he is only the fourth trustee in ICCTA history to achieve this level of dedication to trustee education.

The ICCTA board of representatives established the Trustee Education Award in 1992 to recognize outstanding achievement in the area of professional development. Most ICCTA meetings contain an educational program component that is usually offered on the Friday afternoon before the Saturday board of representative meetings. Over the years, the ICCTA has offered educational programs on such topics as trustee ethicsand legal requirements, home-schooled children coming to college, generational
differences of the population, election law, the Illinois Green Economy Network, legal updates, property tax levies and pension reform.

Sullivan has participated in at least 90 ICCTA educational programs during his tenure on the Lake Land College Board of Trustees. He has served on the board since 1987.
