Taylorville Kiwanis Hear About Taylorville Water Project

 width=Construction plans at the Taylorville Water Department, was the topic of program speaker, water superintendent Dave Speagle, at the weekly meeting of the Taylorville Kiwanis Club on Tuesday at the Taylorville Memorial Hospital auditorium.

Speagle, who has been with the Taylorville Water Department some 30 years, outlined the city's plans for a new 6-million-gallon-per-day water treatment plant, as well as adding 2 wells to the existing 4 wells the city has northeast of town.

Speagle said the city is waiting on the state Environmental Protection Agency, for a possible low interest loan on the 28-point-8 million dollar project. Construction is expected to start in the next one to 3 years, and take several years to complete.

The Taylorville Kiwanis Club inducted Gary Skinner as its newest member, and welcomed 2 guests as the club is in the midst of a membership drive.
