The road across the main dam at Lake Shelbyville will be closed for approximately 3 days during the week of June 16 and again on June 23-27.  The closures will be intermittent and the road should be open by 5:30 p.m. each evening. The closures apply to both vehicle and pedestrian traffic.  
 
These closures are necessary to provide safety for workers and members of the general public while work is being conducted. During the week of June 16, an annual inspection of the tainter gates will be performed by cycling the gates. Large crane equipment, which will assist in setting of bulk heads and cycling the gates, will be on top of the dam road in the lanes of travel.  During the time
frame of June 23-27 the road from 9th Street to Hwy 16 will be closed for asphalt paving.  Asphalt paving of the road will impact access to the visitor center at times.
