Taylorville Police Arrest 1 after Car Chase Saturday

The Taylorville Police Department arrested 1-person following a car chase early Satuday. Around 4:38am, Taylorville Police Department officers conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle for failing to stop at a stop sign. Officers made contact with the driver later identified as 20-year-old Cory A. Skinner of Taylorville. During the course of the traffic stop, Skinner reportedly fled the scene at a high rate of speed. Officers followed Skinner west on Market Street.

The chase came to an end when Skinner crashed into a tree at 111 South Houston Street. Skinner was arrested for driving under the influence of alcohol, reckless driving, motor vehicle theft, possession of a stolen vehicle, aggravated fleeing/attempting to elude a police officer, resisting/obstructing a police officer, and no valid driver's license. Skinner was transported to Taylorville Memorial Hospital for medical evaluation. Skinner was then transported to Taylorville Police Department, processed, and lodged at the Christian County Correctional Center.
