CCSO Reports Young Girl Sent to Hospital After Crash Friday

The Christian County Sheriff’s Office reports that a young girl was sent to the hospital following a 1-vehicle crash Friday. Around 6:07am, 33-year-old Jerod A. Johnson of Nokomis, was traveling southeast on Illinois Route 29. Around 1800 North Road, Johnson went off the roadway into the ditch. Johnson came back on to the road then went into the ditch on the other side of 1800 North. Johnson came out of the ditch, went into a field, and drove the vehicle out. Johnson reportedly said he had been up all night at the hospital in Springfield and fell asleep while driving. An 11-year-old female passenger had minor injuries but was complaining of her chest hurting. She was then transported to Memorial Medical Center in Springfield for treatment of injuries. No other injuries were reported.
