An 11-year-old Petersburg girl was hit by a van on Wednesday. Around 4:50pm, 63-year-old Danny G. Martin of Petersburg was traveling westbound on Route 123 at 5th. St. in Petersburg.  Martin was slowing for a stop light at the intersection of Route 123 and Route 97.  The 11-year-old girl was on the side walk and stepped off the sidewalk into the roadway.  Martin reportedly did not see the girl step into the roadway.  Martin struck the girl with the front end of his vehicle.  The girl was transported to St. John’s Hospital in Springfield with non-life threatening injuries.
