Christian County Board Discusses Elected Officials? Salaries

The Christian County Board had a heated discussion at their Tuesday night meeting on whether or not to freeze the salaries of elected officials for the upcoming term. Board member Jack Pearce, Jr. said he had a problem with the salaries:

Member Joe Marley says while he doesn’t like the idea of freezing salaries, he did not agree on having a beginning salary:

Member Ben Curtin also questioned the fairness of a beginning salary:

After much discussion, the Board approved to freeze the salaries on a 10-6 vote.

 

The Christian County Board received an update on several projects at their Tuesday night meeting. Member Greg Hager tells the Board the latest:

Hager also told the board that Buildings/Grounds Supervisor Zach Hicks is working on the air conditioning system on the third floor of the Courthouse to allow more individual office control.

 

The Christian County Board approved the rates for the 2014-15 health insurance open enrollment. The Board approved the re-establishment of the County Farmland Assessment Review Committee with members being Dick Breckenridge, Lloyd Washburn, and Ben Curtin. The Board also approved the reappointment of Frank Blanchfield to the Taylorville Sanitary District for 3 years and approved the appointment of Sue Ann Paso as trustee to Midland Fire Protection District for a term the would end in May 2015.

The meeting adjourned at 7:10pm.
