Taylorville School Board Hears Several Good News Items

The Taylorville School Board met Monday night and heard good news about the High School Band. Band director Chris Gunn read the letter he received to the Board:

The Board had no objections to Gunn sending in the application.

 

The Taylorville School Board heard more positive news at their Monday meeting in regards to the 175th Anniversary Map that was designed by Taylorville High School Art Students Mathen Campbell and Camille Beyers. Carol Alexander, author of The Big Squeal which the map was designed for, tells the Board about the honor:

The commemorative mugs and postcards can be purchased at PS Printing or Cottage Rose. A portion of the proceeds go to the Arts Department.

 

The Taylorville School Board received the news that the Taylorville High School Paper “The Zephyr” was named the 2013 Illinois Journalism Education Association Division 1 Best Overall Newspaper. High School Students Elizabeth Patrick, Luke Molen, Rhett Warner, Becky Nelson, Hope Johnson, Mathen Campbell, Thorin Roberts, and Kaitlyn Bahl all received individual recognition from the IJEA in various categories. The Taylorville High School Student Council was also recognized with the “Shine Through Your Leadership” award at the 80th Annual Illinois Association of Student Councils State Convention. The Board also approved to keep the registration and meal prices the same as last year.

The meeting adjourned at 8:10pm.
