Area Arrests/Crashes/Incidents 5-6-14

THE CHRISTIAN COUNTY SHERIFF'S OFFICE REPORTS THE FOLLOWING INCIDENTS:

On Sunday May 4, Robert Carls of Stonington contacted the Christian County Sheriff's Office by phone advising of damage to his cornfield. After speaking with Carls, a deputy traveled to the field located around 2400 North 1400 East Road in Blue Mound. Once on scene, the deputy saw where a vehicle had entered the field from west to east and damage of about 1 acre of 2" standing corn. The deputy reported that the tire tracks appear to be from a pickup truck or SUV with Bridgestone Dueller tires. There are no suspects at this time.

On Sunday May 4, Benjamin Smith called the Christian County Sheriff's Office in reference to a theft. A deputy met with Smith at his residence at 1011 West South Street in Hewittville. Smith stated he had a stainless steel still located on the north side of his garage which is just a few feet away from the alley. Sometime between the evening hours of April 30th and May 1st, unknown subject(s) removed the still from Smith's property. Smith stated the still was all stainless steel and valued at approximately $3,000.

ARRESTS:

David K. Matthew, 27, of 503 Spruce Street, Nokomis, was arrested May 5 for two counts of theft.

 


THE TAYLORVILLE POLICE DEPARTMENT REPORTS THE FOLLOWING CRASH:

On May 5, Samantha A. Singleton, 23, of Taylorville was traveling on Springfield Road. Singleton said the she looked down and when she looked back up Kyle R. Stilwell, 21, of Owaneco had stopped in traffic. Singleton then struck the back of Stilwell. Singleton's vehicle had damage to the front but was able to drive from the scene. Stilwell's vehicle had damage to the rear and was towed from the scene. No injuries were reported.
