Lake Land College in coordination with the Mattoon Exchange Club recently rededicated its Freedom Shrine, located in the Northeast Building on campus. The shrine was rededicated in honor of former Lake Land College geography instructor Charles “Chuck” Womack, after the building was renovated last summer as part of the college’s sustainability initiative.

The Mattoon Exchange Club purchases, frames, and installs multiple major documents illustrating the history of basic American freedoms.

The first Exchange Club Freedom Shrine was dedicated in 1949 and the Mattoon Exchange Club has dedicated eight shrines to date.
