Local March of Dimes Team Wins Top Family Award

A local March of Dimes fund raising team, won the “Top Family Award” for raising the most money in the charity's “March for Babies” drive this winter and spring, during the annual walk held Saturday at the Illinois State Fairgrounds in Springfield.

Team Princess Alexis, headed by Sheri Miller of the Miller Media Group in Taylorville, raised some 62-hundred dollars for the March of Dimes, in their efforts to help prevent birth defects and infant mortality.  Sheri's daughter Alexis died of a birth defect, 40 minutes after being born on April 2nd, 2011.

Sheri's fund raising events this year included an on-air Radiothon which raised some 22-hundred dollars, the first-ever 5K Color Run at Manners Park that raised over 2-thousand dollars, and a drive-thru donation day which raised over 200-dollars.  Over 17-hundred dollars also came in thru on-line donations.

This is the 2nd consecutive year that Team Princess Alexis has won the “Top Family Award” during the March of Dimes' “March for Babies” campaign.  

Sheri's efforts also earned the Miller Media Group a special “Champion for Babies” award for its on-air fund raising efforts on behalf of the March of Dimes.

Sheri and her team thank all those who contributed to this year's March of Dimes campaign.
