Nearly 200 Participate in March of Dimes 5K Color Run at Manners Park

Nearly 200 runners turned out Saturday for the first-ever March of Dimes March for Babies Team Princess Alexis 5-K Color Run at Manners Park in Taylorville.

The event was one of 3 fund raisers held by Team Princess Alexis, headed by Sheri Miller of the Miller Media Group.

Runners and walkers in the 5-K Color Run were treated to corn starch colors being thrown at them at various locations thru-out the course.

And the event culminated with a color festival, where packets of various colors of corn starch were thown into the air for a spectacular view of practically every color of the rainbow.

The final fund raising event for Team Princess Alexis will be next Saturday, April 12th, when Sheri and her family will hold their annual drive-thru donation day at the Miller Media Group studios at 918 East Park in Taylorville, from 9am to 2pm. Listeners can stop by during the event, and for a donation of any amount, be given a March of Dimes t-shirt or bag.

All donations raised by Sheri’s team, will be given to the March of Dimes, at their annual March for Babies event April 26th at the Illinois State Fairgrounds in Springfield.

This is the 3rd consecutive year that Sheri and her team have raised money for the March of Dimes, in memory of her daughter Alexis who died 40 minutes after being born on April 2nd, 2011, from a birth defect.
