Taylorville Kiwanis Hold Monthly Business Meeting at Weekly Luncheon

 width=(Taylorville)—The Taylorville Kiwanis Club held their monthly business meeting at their weekly luncheon Tuesday at the Taylorville Memorial Hospital auditorium.

Kiwanis membership chair Dean Ray announced that a membership drive, to be called “Spring Fling”, will take place in May. Ray said there will be 4 teams all working to attract new members to the club. The membership effort will be culminated with a cookout at the end of May at Kiwanis Park.

Park chairman Jerry Woodard reported to the Kiwanis Club that specifications have been drawn up for a 2nd pavilion, 12-foot by 24-foot in size. The 2nd pavilion will enable more families to use the park, according to Woodard. He added that Pro Stitch owner Russell Stare will be manufacturing and installing new 4-inch vinyl covers around the Kiwanis Park playground equipment. Woodard also said the existing fence around Kiwanis Park will be replaced this year.

Kiwanis Club spiritual aims chairman Reverend Dick Wamsley announced that this year’s annual Kiwanis Prayer Luncheon is scheduled for Tuesday, May 13th, with guest speaker being former Taylorville minister and Kiwanis Club president Doctor Randy Perry.

Club publicity co-chair Randy Miller announced that the Kiwanis Club will have its own Facebook page created this week, with club information posted on a regular basis. Miller encouraged members to “like” the page on Facebook.

The Taylorville Kiwanis Club is part of global organization of volunteers dedicated to changing the world one child and one community at a time. Weekly meetings are held Tuesdays at noon at the Taylorville Memorial Hospital auditorium. For information on the club, go to taylorvillekiwanis.com.
