Shelbyville Rotary Club Learns About History of St. Patrick

At the Shelbyville Rotary Club meeting, members were notified that they should have received a letter from Club Treasurer Liz Nohren for a request to support the Shelbyville Rotary Scholarship Award. This award is made to a student based upon financial need, community service and academic achievement. The Shelbyville School Foundation will make the selection for the recipient of this award.

Kevin Ray was the program chairman and keynote speaker. His topic was about Saint Patrick and his history in Ireland. Ray told the Club about how the young Patrick was kidnapped from his home in Britain, and taken as a slave to Ireland. Ray also told of St. Patrick’s miraculous escape and his use of the Shamrock in his parables.

Phil Miller is the next program chairman and his program which will be presented by the Club’s newest member Caroline Reynolds. She will be speaking about New Visions.
