Mesa, AZ (SportsNetwork.com) - Tommy Medica belted a two-run homer, Seth Smith
drove in a pair of runs and the Colorado Rockies bested the Chicago Cubs, 7-1,
in spring training on Monday night.

Chase  Headley  also had  an RBI  for the Padres,  whose starter, Eric Stults,
allowed just one run on five hits over 5 2/3 innings.

Chicago's  only  run came in  the first  frame via Donnie Murphy's run-scoring
groundout.

Cubs  starter Carlos  Villanueva lasted four innings and gave up three runs on
three hits and three walks.

Cubs shortstop Starlin Castro says he's close to rejoining the team.  Castro played in a minor-league game on Monday and was in the field for the first time since suffering a hamstring strain on March 2nd.  The 24-year-old says he feels good and is ready to take the next step.
