Glendale, AZ (SportsNetwork.com) - Jed Lowrie hit a three-run homer during a
nine-run first inning Tuesday and the Oakland Athletics cruised to a 16-6 win
over the Chicago White Sox in spring training.
The A's sent 15 batters to the plate in the first inning. Nine faced White Sox
starter Jose Quintana, who failed to get an out and was charged with all nine
runs on seven hits and two walks.
Michael Taylor, Daric Barton, Jake Elmore, Sam Fuld and Coco Crisp delivered
five consecutive RBI hits in the rally. Taylor finished the game with three
runs batted in.
Conor Gillaspie and Tyler Flowers hit solo homers off Oakland starter Jesse
Chavez, who went 4 2/3 innings. Chavez allowed six hits and two walks with two
strikeouts.
