Scottsdale, AZ (SportsNetwork.com) - Christian Villanueva scored the go-ahead
run on a throwing error in the top of the seventh inning, lifting the Chicago
Cubs to a 3-2 win over the San Francisco Giants on Monday in spring training
action.
Chris Coghlan and Emilio Bonifacio each added an RBI single for the Cubs, who
saw starter Jeff Samardzija strike out five while permitting two runs on five
hits over four innings.
San Francisco starter Matt Cain struck out seven over five perfect innings,
but the Cubs broke through against the Giants' bullpen in the sixth.
Pablo Sandoval scorched a two-run single in the fourth to account for San
Francisco's offense.
