Rams To Release Cortland Finnegan

(St Louis, MO)  --  The days of Cortland Finnegan playing for the Rams appear to be over.  ESPN reports the veteran cornerback has been informed he will be released by the team next week.  The move will save the Rams four-million-dollars on the 2014 salary cap.  If Finnegan signs for two-million-dollars or more with another team, St. Louis will earn the same amount towards the cap as well, up to a maximum of three-million-dollars.  The 30-year-old signed a five-year, 30-million-dollar contract with the Rams in 2012.  He was due a three-million-dollar roster bonus on March 13th.  The "St. Louis Post-Dispatch" reports Rams coach Jeff Fischer is interested in bringing the veteran back at a discounted rate.
