CHRISTIAN COUNTY SHERIFF ANNOUNCES LEVEL 3 SNOW EMERGENCY

Sheriff Bruce Kettelkamp has declared a level 3 Snow Emergency for all County and Township roads in Christian County starting at 4P.M> on January 5th, 2014 and going through 5:30 A.M. on January 6th, at which time the emergency levels will be re-evaluated.

The east-west roadways have drifts of snow 5 to 6 foot high and visibility in some areas is completely white out conditions.

No accidents have been reported to the Sheriff’s Office. Eleven vehicles have been reported being stuck in roadways or off in the ditches.

Sheriff Kettelkamp is requesting everyone to remain at home or inside until these extreme hazardous weather conditions dissipate.

The following explains a level 3 snow emergency:

Level 3: All roadways are closed to non-emergency personnel. No one should be out during these conditions unless it is absolutely necessary to travel. Drivers may be ticketed and vehicels may be towed if abandoned on the roads thereby hindering emergency operation.
