The Taylorville Kiwanis Club met on Tuesday for their weekly meeting. Amber Miller spoke about her Equine Therapy program at Kemmerer Village. She uses equine therapy to help children with mental health problems through both mounted and ground activities. Many children with mental health issues are able to build relationships with horses that they are unable to build with adults. These relationships with horses in turn help them to relate to their human relationships. She also teaches work skills to the children through caring for the horses. They learn responsibility, a strong work ethic, and financial independence. For more information on Taylorville Kiwanis go to www.taylorvillekiwanis.com.
