Area Arrests/Accidents/Incidents 12-5-13

THE CHRISTIAN COUNTY SHERIFF'S OFFICE REPORTS THE FOLLOWING ACCIDENTS:

On December 3, Lawrence J. Grant, 70, of Owaneco was traveling northbound and slowing in traffic on Illinois Route 29 to turn left onto Township Road 800 North. Nathan A. Roley, 27, of Altamont was also traveling northbound on Illinois Route 29 and was behind Grant. Roley began to pass Grant. Grant them began to turn left and Roley could not stop in time to avoid a collision. Both drivers advised Grant had his left turn signal activated. Roley received front end and passenger side damage and Grant received front driver's side and front undercarriage damage. No injuries were reported.

On December 4, Erica L. Wessling, 25, of Taylorville was traveling southbound on Illinois Route 48. Around Township Road 1150 North. Wessling lost control of the vehicle and it began to skid in a clockwise direction. Wessling left approximately 24 feet of visible skid marks before leaving the roadway to the right. Wessling continued to rotate, skidding approximately 63 feet before totally leaving the roadway. Wessling entered the west ditch, overturned, and landed on its top. Wessling's vehicle received total damage. Wessling was transported to Taylorville Memorial Hospital for treatment of injuries.

On December 4, a 16-year-old male was northbound on County Highway 23. Melanie A. McQuire, 33, of Edinburg was turning left onto County Highway 23 from 2300 North Road. McQuire failed to yield to the 16-year-old and struck him in the driver's door. McQuire was transported to St' John's Hospital in Springfield for treatment of injuries. The 16-year-old and a 15-year-old male passenger were transported to Taylorville Memorial Hospital for treatment of injuries.
