Fraudsters love the holiday season because there is so much economic activity, making it easy for them to find victims. Public Advocate Mac McGuire says "Cyber-Monday" is especially dangerous because it involves using computers. Mcguire says among other precautions, you should make sure your security software is up to date:

McGuire says you should also avoid clicking on links or pop-ups, which can contain malware. He says you should look for websites that start with http and have the small padlock icon.
