Area Arrests/Accidents/Incidents 10-10-13

THE CHRISTIAN COUNTY SHERIFF'S OFFICE REPORTS THE FOLLOWING:

ARRESTS:

Michael E. Ray, 38, of 404 South Clay Street, Taylorville, was arrested October 9 on a warrant for possession of drug paraphernalia.

Justin R. Sherman, 31, of 723 East Easter Street, Taylorville, was arrested October 9 on a warrant for driving on a suspended/revoked license.

Robert T. Sheddan, 41, of 343 West 11th Street, Neoga, was arrested October 9 on a warrant for methamphetamine precursor, retail theft, and failure to report a vehicle as unclaimed.

On October 9, Quinton A. Lancaster, 23, of Mattoon was traveling westbound on East Illinois Street in Assumption past the GSI group building. George E. Riley, 37, of Peoria had traveled westbound on East Illinois Street and had stopped on the north side of the roadway beside GSI. Riley stated he had activated his hazard lights while parked next to GSI. Riley stated he then turned on the left turn signal to proceed into the south parking lot of GSI. Lancaster and a passenger stated they saw the right turn signal activated. Lancaster stated he began to pass Riley on the left hand side when Riley began to turn left into the south parking lot. Lancaster stated he stopped when he saw that Riley was turning into the lot and attempted to put the vehicle in reverse. The semi-trailer of Riley impacted with Lancaster. Lancaster received front end and front passenger side damage. Riley received damage to the rear driver's side area of the trailer. No injuries were reported.

THE PANA POLICE DEPARTMENT REPORTS THE FOLLOWING:

On October 7, Ashley Beaty of Pana reported criminal damage that occurred to her 2004 Dodge Durango. Sometime between 10pm on October 6 and 9am on October 7, an unknown person used a rock to break the back glass. Damage is valued at $392.99.

On October 8, Velda Griffith of Pana reported damage to her headlight on her 1990 Oldsmobile while parked at 601 East 6th Street, Pana. Damage occurred some during the evening on October 7 thru early morning on October 8 by unknown person.

On October 8, David A. Smith, 72, of Pana was legally parked on the east side of Locust facing north. John A Castle, 85, of Pana was northbound on Locust and attempted to pull into a parking space in front of Smith. Witness stated Castle struck the front door of Smith and observed the front wheel move. No injuries were reported.

On October 8, Tamara J. Burnett, 55, of Springfield was traveling through a parking lot at 19 West Second Road. Burnett turned too sharply and struck a sign post. The post was not damaged. The vehicle sustained moderate damage to the front end on the driver's side.

Following a traffic stop on October 8 at Route 16 and 2600 East Road, Travis W. Smith, 41, was issued two citations: operating a vehicle uninsured and operating a vehicle with an expired registration sticker.

On October 8, Kevin E. Green, 33, of Pana was arrested on two outstanding warrants: a Shelby County warrant for failure to appear on possession of drug paraphernalia charges and a Montgomery County warrant for failure to appear on possession of controlled substance charges. Green was transported to Shelby County in lieu of bond.
