The parent company of newspapers in Springfield and Lincoln, has filed for chapter eleven bankruptcy.
GateHouse Media, that owns and operates 33 publications across the country including the Illinois State Journal-Register in Springfield and the Lincoln Courier, filed for bankruptcy protection on September 27th.
They list total assets as 433-million and liabilities totaling some one-point-3 billion dollars.
GateHouse says normal operations will continue as they seek to restructure their debt.
