Shelbyville Rotary Club Welcomes Another New Member

It was another busy Monday meeting for the Shelbyville Rotary Club.

The Club is proud to announce that Jim Bolinger has introduced a new member for the club, Bob Boarman of Boarmans Auto Sales. Bob is well known in the area as a successful automobile dealer and philanthropist. Bob was accepted into the call with a unanimous vote.

Member, Liz Nohren proposed that they apply approximately $200 for the purchase of trees to be planted at the Forest Park. The motion passed.

The Club heard an update on the Halloween parade. President-elect Kevin Ray and President Ted Bogart were at the Shelbyville City Council meeting last Monday night to make a request to have the Halloween parade starting from the Post Office and having the parade route through to the Municipal Building on S. Morgan Street. City Police have agreed to close Morgan Street from four to 6:30 PM for this purpose. The start time of the costume judging is 5 PM, judging to commence at 5:15, parade to commence at a quarter till six. They plan to have the judging in the parking lot of the Shelby County Community Services.

The program chairman for the day and keynote speaker was member Brian Green. Brian improvised an entertaining program in which he recounted an amusing anecdote that had occurred to him recently, and then invited the rest of the club to provide the same, in a round robin forum.

Next week the program will feature Fred Heilich and Polio Plus.
