U-S Highway 51 around and south of Assumption, is now 4 lanes. Construction project personnel officially opened the southbound lanes just past 5 o’clock Friday afternoon.
Motorists traveling on east-west roads from the Assumption blacktop and south, should be aware that they now must cross 4 lanes of traffic instead of 2.
Construction has also begun on the portion of U-S Highway 51 where the 4 lanes end south of Assumption, to just north of Pana. Ultimately the road will be 4-lanes from Decatur to Pana.
