Police Make Arrests in Vending Machine Burglary Case

The Stonington Police Department, Christian County Sheriff’s Office and Pana Police Department have identified the male and female responsible for several burglaries to vending machines in Stonington and Pana, Illinois over the past year. Assisted by the IllinoisStatePoliceIntelligenceCenter and Clay County Sheriff’s Office, 55 year old Stephen M. O’Conner and 31 year old Aimie M. Onkle, both of St. Louis, Missouri were arrested during the early morning hours of September 9, 2013 after witnesses saw the two breaking into several soda machines in ClayCounty.

 It is believed that O’Connor and Onkle are related and have been traveling around central and southern Illinois for several months targeting small town vending machines. Both have extensive criminal histories for burglaries to vending machines, possession of burglary tools and weapons offenses dating back to the 1990’s. At the completion of the investigations, cases will be presented to the ChristianCountyState’s Attorney for local charges.
