As a community bank, Peoples Bank & Trust recognizes the value of volunteerism in our communities.  To recognize, commend and promote the volunteerism, Peoples Bank & Trust has established a program to recognize an outstanding community member for their volunteer efforts of improvement to our community.

David Hixenbaugh has been chosen as the current Volunteer of the Quarter. For the past 27 years, David has been the PA announcer for all of the Taylorville High School football games.  Several years ago, David and other sports volunteers started the Taylorville Sports Hall of Fame.  Each year, he and several other Taylorville sports enthusiasts plan and host an annual Hall of Fame banquet.  At that banquet, individuals and teams are inducted into the Taylorville Sports Hall of Fame.

David is also an officer and very active in the Taylorville Area Fine Arts Council.  For many years, he has been a featured singer with the Taylorville Municipal Band on Wednesday nights at Hershey Towers.  He also sings and travels all over Central Illinois with the Springfield Capital Chamber Singers. David is a volunteer member of the Taylorville Municipal Hospital Foundation Board. He recently retired after 44 years with the Taylorville School system.

In honor of David’s time and efforts, Peoples Bank & Trust is very proud to make a donation in his honor to the Taylorville Area Arts Council and to the Taylorville High School Sports Boosters. David’s name will also be placed on a plaque to be displayed at the bank.
